FAQ — Passive Fire Protection Fixing Systems

Frequently Asked Questions — Passive Fire Protection Fixing Systems

Which stapler do I need for Promatect boards?

Senco and Tjep collated staplers are specified by Promat™ for fixing the full Promatect range. The most commonly used staple lengths are 38mm, 50mm, and 75mm. Contact us if you need help selecting the right tool for your specific board and substrate. See our Passive Fire Protection Fixing Systems collection for the full range.

Do I need an air compressor?

No. Fuel cell operated staplers are available and are the preferred choice for most on-site passive fire protection work. They require no compressor or hose and can be used anywhere on site. Read our Guide to Fixing Passive Fire Protection Boards for more detail on tool selection.

Are Senco staplers approved for Knauf systems?

Yes. Senco and Tjep systems are recommended by Knauf for use with Coreboard, Shaftwall System, Fire Panel 12.5mm & 15mm, and the MF range. See our Knauf Coreboard & Shaftwall Fixing Guide for full details.

Are these systems approved for Kemwell FireKem products?

Yes. Kemwell also recommend Senco and Tjep fixing systems for FireKem products.

What staple length should I use?

The most commonly specified lengths are 38mm, 50mm, and 75mm. The correct length depends on the board thickness and substrate. Always refer to the manufacturer’s specification sheet or contact us for guidance. Our fixing guide covers staple length selection in detail.

Why must I use Promat-specified fixings?

Using non-specified fixings can compromise the fire rating of the system and invalidate the specification. Read Promat-Specified Fastening Systems Explained to understand why specification compliance matters.

Can I use these tools for other fire protection boards?

Yes. Beyond Promat, Senco and Tjep systems are approved for use with boards from Knauf and Kemwell. If you are working with a board not listed here, contact us and we can advise on the correct fixing system for your application.
